The Smart Learning & Teaching Training (SLATT) is a foundation course to prepare participants in the planning, delivery and assessment of learning.

Participants will be taught the importance of adopting student-centered teaching techniques and how to best prepare for a course and lessons, how to conduct engaging class sessions and assess their students in a reliable manner.

This course will also introduce participants to some of the latest in teaching technologies (including Turn-It-In and Test Blueprint).

 

Who Should Attend?

The SLATT course is available to all new lecturers at KDU College.

 

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Be familiar with the latest Learning Theories and Techniques
  • Teach using Student-Centered Learning and Outcome-Based Education
  • Plan for a course and lessons
  • Delivery high-quality and engaging Instruction
  • Use Technology to facilitate learning, sharing and collaboration (among students and teachers)
  • Apply Classroom Management strategies
  • Conduct valid and reliable Assessments
  • Use Action Research to improve teaching
  • Value and practice Continuing Professional Development regularly

Method of Delivery

All sessions are facilitated in an interactive, fun and stimulating manner. The latest learning tools, group discussions, break-out sessions, role-play and multi-media will be employed to provide a memorable learning experience.

 

Course Duration & Intake

The SLATT is a 3-month program. Sessions are held weekly on Friday, between 2.00pm to 4.30pm.

There are three intakes a year: January, June & October.
